Diamond Valley is located in the arid, central portion of the
high desert just north of Eureka, Nevada on Highway 50. A combination
of dry, cool summer nights and warm days makes this area a prime
location for high quality hay farming. Farming is the primary
occupation for families in Diamond Valley. Most farms are family
owned and operated. These producers grow crops such as alfalfa,
timothy grass, orchard grass, and alfalfa/grass mixes. These crops
are grown under pivot irrigation systems. There are over 180 quarter
section pivots in the valley. Approximately 25,000 acres of Diamond
Valley are actively farmed.
